Okay, so I spent most of the day yesterday in bed feeling like crap. I slept for the vast majority of it, but for an inordinately long time (or so it felt), I just laid there…blankly. I think if the weather around here would be a steady decline into winter right now, I’d feel better, but it’s supposed to be back up in the 70s next week, so I guess there will be no breaks for me.
Anyway. The small amount of time that I spent on the couch in front of the television taught me that:
a) The Phillies won the World Series.
b) Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power” was #1 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs. “Rapper’s Delight” was #3.
c) There isn’t a whole lot on TV on Wednesday nights.
I did come to work today, and I’m starting to regret it. I still don’t feel completely well, and when I don’t feel well, the little annoyances that I can pretty much ignore on a day-to-day basis become huge and glaring in their stupidity. I’ve debated about another segment of Good, Bad, Ugly, and Funny just because I don’t know if I can weight the Good and Funny over the Bad and Ugly.
———-
Took a small break and went for a steamed cider. Stupid of stupids, it’s more expensive per glass than an entire half-gallon at the store, but oh freaking well. The time away from my desk and a good sweet drink helps to lift the mood. Therefore, and without further ado, your dose of Good, Bad, Ugly, and Funny:
Good: I have tomorrow off. Counting today, there’s only 6 days of annoying political advertising left. Tomorrow is Hallowe’en – my favorite holiday.
Bad: The weather in Indiana cannot make up its mind. There’s still 6 days until the election(s).
Ugly: The way the Dolts fans act about the New England Patriots. Don’t hate just because they have a better record than you and YOU have your starting QB. Bitches.
Funny: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ambientqueenie/2094953978/ - Okay, so I thought it was funny…

Cheese and rice, it is COLD. While not especially warm outside, I find it to be less chilling than sitting here at my desk when it’s a whopping 61 degrees (that’s Fahrenheit, if you’re concerned). Yesterday, I was wearing a wool sweater – nice merino wool, actually – and I was still cold. Today, I had to wear pink for a fundraising event, so I opted for the warmest pink blouse I have. Silk is pretty warm, but it’s a short-sleeved blouse and that’s not helping. So, I’m sipping hot tea to maybe warm myself up inside out. Does that work? It’s good enough when the fucking AC kicks on again because the damned copiers are running at full steam and heating up the area!!Maybe if I type more, I’ll warm up. Fortunately, that does not necessarily translate into doing work!
Good: The Dolts lost to the yet-to-be-beaten Titans last night on Monday Night Football. I have at least one day off for the next three weeks. Mother Nature is playing with the World Series, delaying last night’s game – whichever side wins, the conspiracy theorists will have heydays…
Bad: I hate it when I’m trying to think of something and it won’t pop into my head. One of my favorite people at work is having his last day here today.
Ugly: Sour grapes – a different, yet also pretty damned annoying, coworker is celebrating her 30th birthday today. Not only is the group planning on going to lunch today to celebrate, there’s a card going around for her. The sour grapes part is that I also turned 30 this year, and most people here could not have cared less. I didn’t broadcast it, but the people in my department knew about it, and she of the birthday today totally ignored it. Now, today, if I happen to not sign that birthday card or if I don’t wish her a happy birthday at some point today, she’ll be pissed, and, as a result, so will several other people in the office. Worse yet is that our boss (who’s totally awesome otherwise) bought her a gift – a big one – and no one else got a gift for their birthdays. Most of us didn’t even get a card. I did get a gift from my boss – a plant. I’ll be interested to see what that big wrapped box contains, I guess just so I can continue to be jealous. Grr.
Funny: Along the same lines, the Pretty Damned Annoying Coworker (PDAC) had the office’s main secretary send out an email telling everyone what her birthday wish was. True, it was for people to donate to this charitable organization, but really? Did she have to advertise to the entire office that it’s her birthday and try to push the “donate in my name for my birthday” bit? Funny – in a freaktasically tacky sort of way.
Since I want to feel better after that rant, here’s a photo of a hot guy:

Mmm...Hottie Matt Leinart in eye black...

It’s amazing to me how the blog views drop when I don’t post regularly.
Maybe it means that someone is reading this and is potentially disappointed when I don’t have anything to say…or if I can’t get to a computer.
Yesterday morning, I arrived at work as usual and tried to log on to my desktop. It rebooted. I tried again and got the same result. I tried a hard reboot – we’re not supposed to shut all the way down when we leave – and got the same reboot issue. So, I call IT. The poor guy on the other end (when they finally answered) asked me if I had submitted a ticket. Believe it or not, I laughed instead of screaming at the imbecile – how exactly do you expect me to submit a ticket if I can’t get into the computer in the first place? So, they sent a guy to me – after an hour and a half – and he did some diagnostic things to my POS, only to discover that it had a bunch of bad hard drive sectors and half of the 1G of RAM was bad as well. I won’t get mine back until this afternoon at the earliest and Monday morning at the latest. Fortunately, the IT guy who’s fixing it is nice and kept my Packers pics while imaging the HD.
This morning, I am “borrowing” a computer from a coworker who doesn’t get here until 9. Fun, fun for everyone!
So, uh, let’s see. Oh! The Rays and Philles are even after Game 2 of the World Series. I want the Rays to win, but I guess it won’t be the end of the world if the Philies win. At least it isn’t the Yankees or the BoSox (sorry, SD!).
I’m ready for a relaxing weekend. AFAIK, we’ve got nothing going on. I’m sure we’ll figure out something that we just have to go and do – the DH hates to sit at home. On that note (and since I should probably get off of here):
Good: Getting my hair washed at the salon…aaahh. Hottie Marques Colston is back on the active roster for the Saints!
Bad: Tony Romo’s pinkie will keep him out of another game (that’s at least bad for the ‘Boys), and he’s still with Stupid. Tom Brady is having some problems with that knee surgery (it’s because I’m not taking care of him in his time of need – Tom, I’ll come to SanFran, I swear!), and has to go under the knife again.
Ugly: There’s the one lady at work that may be one of the most annoying people I’ve ever met, and it’s not RFAC. My new across-the-aisle neighbor is gonna get the nickname of TMI Queen. I already know of most of her medical conditions, her cats, her boyfriend’s job problems, her money-saving ideas, her family medical history…Yikes!
Funny: Search for “Happy Schnapps Trio” and listen to “The Bears Still Suck”.

is all I have this morning to write a coherent post. It’s too bad that my typing skills do not include some way away from finger dyslexia. Here we go:
Of course, as you all should be fully aware, my beloved Packers beat up on the whiny-baby Colts. I was actually quite good yesterday and didn’t rub anyone’s face in it. I did wear the biggest Cheesehead grin going all day though. Aaron Rodgers is still my hero, I heart Nick Collins, and boy, is it damn funny that the Dolts had to try three times before getting in the end zone at the end of the game.
The Tampa Bay Rays are going to face the Phillies in the World Series. That starts tomorrow, I believe, and I think Fox has it. I guess Vegas books are going to be shelling out the big dollars if the Rays win the Series. Too bad I’m not a betting girl. Not that I would have picked them anyway, I guess. Who knew they’d go from last to first? In one season!
The Saints lost Sunday and lost Reggie Bush (again). I am quite fond of Reggie (he’s not bad looking, either), but does that boy get hurt a lot or what? I’m hoping that Deuce can pick up some of the slack. The Patriots beat the Broncos last night. I’m a fan of Jay Cutler (or, as my DH says “Cutlet”), and I think he’s a decent QB too. Not hot, but whatevs. I am glad that the Pats won again – it shows that they can still do it. They need to get a couple more wins in before coming to Indy – it’d be nice for the Colts to lose a few in a row. Nothing like demoralizing a city of fair weather fans.
I’m almost out of time, so let’s cut to the chase:
Good: Lambeau Leaps! We secured tickets to the Thanksgiving game in Detroit. We’ll get to watch the Lie-Downs get creamed by Tennessee…
Bad: Stupid revival of the “special project” at work. Guess where I am all week?
Ugly: The potential that Brett Favre is so mad at the Packers for whatever he’s mad about (I thought this was all over, since he’s been traded and is playing somewhere), that he’s sharing secrets about the Pack to other teams? I guess it’s probably good that they’ve changed some of the plays since he’s been there.
Funny: A quote from an Indy Star writer:
At this rate, the only way Peyton will get to the Pro Bowl is if Eli takes him as a guest.

not to gloat. Maybe I’ll figure that out tomorrow when I can wipe this stupid “eat shit, you bunch of whiny-assed Dolts fans!” grin off my face.
No time today – damned work and all that. Straight to the point:

Oh, and the Rays (who beat my stubborn ChiSox to get to the point before) are going to the World Series after defeating the BoSox in 7.

I’m an admitted procrastinator. If there’s an opportunity to goof off before the deadline looms, I’m probably going to do it. It’s not all the time, but it happens a lot, especially at work. Since that’s what I’ve been doing all morning, I thought I’d share some of my favorite ways to burn time.
- Sports websites: My favorites are NFL.com (go and vote for your Pro Bowl picks here), MLB.com, the sites for my favorite teams (Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, Chicago White Sox, and Detroit Red Wings), and a few assorted sports blogs. You can see the blogroll over there for some of those.
- Ogling hot athletes: Closely related to the above, checking out photos of my favorite athletes is a great way to spend time. Why not look at the gorgeous scenery? Try Getty Images. Very nice.
- Internet Movie Database: I think the quotes/lines from the movies are user-submitted, but can provide for a good laugh. If you’re ever wondering who that guy was that played in that one moive, they’ve probably got it here. There’s also stuff for tv/cable shows, if you’re interested in that.
- Comics: Try Comics.com. I recommend Get Fuzzy and Pearls Before Swine.
- Fansites: This is where you can chat with other folks who like the same celebs you do – usually without arguing, unlike sports comment boards where the flame wars can really wage over some stupid shtuff. My personal fave is Loving Gabriel, a fansite for Gabriel Macht. Go check him out on IMDB.
- The crossword puzzle of the day: I don’t know how many other papers online have this, but you can do the crossword puzzle online at the Indianapolis Star’s website. I find it helps to get my brain jumpstarted when I really do need to work.
- Random websites: I like to surf for random stuff. As long as the firewall/filter doesn’t put the kibosh on the site (not that I surf for anything like that at work), some of these are good fun. Try Found Magazine and my favorite standby, EBay.
Have YOU wasted time today? You just did.

It was a crazy, hectic, and extremely fun weekend, and it all wrapped up with a great relaxing day off of work yesterday. Bank holidays are great.
Once again, I was busy all weekend and wasn’t able to watch my sports. I caught brief glimpses of some things hellish (losses for Michigan and for LSU) and some things great (the Rays beat the BoSox). Fortunately, the event that kept me busy included one fine hunk of a man. I have a certain weakness for tall guys with dark hair and blue eyes. The blue eyes are the big ticket…something about a beautiful pair of blue eyes wins my lust heart every time. This particular man had some crystal blue eyes that darkened to the pupil…oh, sigh…and he had dimples and a pretty nice ass. Hot Damn. If he were an athlete and wore eyeblack (other personal weaknesses), he might have been close to perfect.
It didn’t hurt that this guy was gracious, sweet, and funny. He took the flirting and overt ogling of a couple hundred women right in stride. The only things that kept him from being a flat-out lust object were a little bit of a belly and that damned little patch of hair right under his bottom lip. Facial hair is okay with me, but I like it if there’s some sort of committment to it. Having that little patch of wayward chin hair seems like you’d like to grow a beard, maybe, but you aren’t sure about it, so you’re going to do this test patch for a while. Puh-leeze. Grow it or don’t. My suggestion is shave the thing off. It’s not doing you any favors, and it might get in the way of the hot tongue-wrangling I’d like to do. My very funny friend N agreed, and we came up with this guy’s new nickname, El Quattro, because I was going to take my Lady Quattro and shave it off for him. We had a blast laughing all night Saturday about it…both before and after dinner and drinks.
I do have to say that my DH has taken to growing in sideburns, and I quite like it. It’s a good thing that he’s hot too, or I’d be in a bad way. Did I mention that he’s also tall, has dark hair, and has beautiful blue eyes?
Perhaps now is a good time to actually go do some work.
Good: Hot waiters and good friends to ogle them with. Sexy and understanding husbands. The Rays lead the BoSox in the LC currently. The Phillies lead the Dodgers. Can you tell who I want to win? The Packers won, beating Mike “I should have already retired” Holmgren and his Seahawks. The Saints blistered the Raiders.
Bad:Michigan lost to Toledo. The Pats lost – no, they were owned by the Chargers. LSU lost to Tim Tebow and the damned Gators.
Ugly: Washington lost unbelievably to the St. Louis Rams. Manny Ramirez – that dude is ugly with a capital UG. The jealousy I felt when N showed up in her dress for Saturday evening – skinny bitch.
Funny: The Dallas Cowboys lost to the…Arizona Cardinals?!?! WTF? Even better? The Giants lost on MNF to the Cleveland Browns. El Quattro!!

the No Fun League for professional football:
MIAMI (AP)—Ronnie Brown and two Miami Dolphins teammates have been fined $10,000 each by the NFL for excessive celebrating.
The league said Friday that choreographed celebrations by two or more players aren’t permitted.
After Brown scored a touchdown Sunday against San Diego, he performed a dance shuffle in the end zone with offensive linemen Vernon Carey and Ikechuku Ndukwe. (Source: Yahoo Sports)
I am a firm believer in moderation. All things in moderation, including moderation. Sometimes, ya just gotta get all crazy-like and have a good time. If I were having the unforeseen success that the Dolphins have been having, I’d be celebrating every time I got in the end zone too. In fact, I’d probably up the ante and go out and breakdance on the center field icon (if I could, in fact, breakdance). What’s wrong with a little celebration? Why is it against the rules? Who decided on these damned rules anyway??
Way to go, Goodell. First, you’re trying to break my heart with your whining about the economic woes of the NFL, and now… well, now you’re the stuffy and pretentious head of an organization that’s turning into the fun equivalent of a knitting bee.
Before I pop-lock my way into this weekend, here ya go:
Good: Bank holidays mean long weekends for me.
Bad: Adam Jones and Jerry Jones and Chipper Jones and Jenny Jones. Anyone got a good Jones?
Ugly: The Red Wings lost to the Maple Leafs (shouldn’t it be maple leaves?) after watching the beauty of the Championship banner being hoisted high over the Joe. Stank.
Funny: My DH calls me to say that the Cubs have held onto Hottie Rich Harden, only to be disappointed when I tell him that I already know…I should have just acted pleasantly suprised, I guess.

Man, this cranberry almond oatmeal is good, even if it is the microwave stuff.
Anyway, I thought this was a better title (and what’s better than the Humpty Dance, I ask you) than what I originally had. On my way in to work this morning, several times I asked this post’s original title: ”What is this, Asshole Day?” I seemed to be surrounded by drivers acting like assholes all morning. It was all the usual suspects:
- I Like to Drive Slow in the Fast Lane – This person does not care about you. They do not care that they are doing below the speed limit in the fast lane. They do not care that they are not passing anyone. They are simply driving in the fast lane and that is where they intend to stay.
- Please Pull My Hair if You’re Going to Ride My Ass Like That- This person does not believe in the two-second or even the one-car-length rule. You are not going fast enough, and they are going to try and make you move by tailgating as close as they possibly can. They have no regard for the fact that you are kept from maintaining a reasonable speed because of Mr./Ms. I Like to Drive Slow in the Fast Lane.
- I Don’t Know How to Operate My Cruise Control – This person either does not believe in driving at a constant speed or does not know how to use their cruise control. Amazingly enough, these are folks who drive nicer and newer cars…you know, the ones that come with CC standard…so they have no excuse. They will pace you if you try to pass and they will slow down or speed up at the merest whim. Frankly, it’s maddening.
- I Live Here, but I Don’t Know Where I’m Going- They drive the same route every day, but have not been able to figure out which way they really want to go. This indecisiveness (or blatant stupidty) causes them to signal and move into other lanes, just to jump back over into your lane because that’s not really where they wanted to go.
- I Drive an Expensive Car, So I Can Drive How I Want – They will cut you off and give you the finger because you have forgotten that driving such a pricey ride entitles them to do whatever they want. They may also be a variation of I Live Here, but I Don’t Know Where I’m Going, but only because they usually have Jerome drive them in the limo.
- I Was Here First, So I’m Going First- This driver doesn’t recall the rules of an intersection as given in the driver’s manual. They have forgotten that the general order goes: right turn, straight, left turn. They fully believe that, because they stopped at that TWO-WAY stop first, they get to turn left before you get to turn right. Wrongo, MaryLou.
I’m sure there are more that I could come up with, but those were my nemeses this morning. Someday, I’m going to own a car that I’m not super fond of and I will use it as a weapon and a training tool. Today is not that day. I like my car.
Enough ranting, eh? Let’s get on with the day:
Good: Reportsfrom Rotowire say that Marques Colston should be returning off the IR for the Week 7 game against the Panthers. I think Marques is HOT. His injury was to his thumb…which still allows for me to tie him up and do wicked bad naughty things to him without further injury.

Image: Sports Illustrated
Bad: I have to work on my anniversary. Happy day, DH!
Ugly: Jon Kitna, IMHO. Look.
Funny: Martin Gramatica, kicker for the Saints, has been placed on IR for a groin injury. News stories don’t say what the cause of the injury was/is, only that he’s been playing with a sore groin as of late. I say it’s because he has to let the rest of the offense line up and give him a good kneeing every time he shanks a kick…and that’s been a lot lately.
