I am just raging today. It might be the lack of sleep, the head cold that won’t go away, or the fact that I must interact with people on a regular basis. Life might be better if I were a really wealthy hermit. I will try to keep from screaming at people today. I will be successful if a) the FSB doesn’t say one word in the company meeting today and b) the RFAC doesn’t come near me today. I’m not quite sure why, but she’s trying to be my friend…ugh.
Update: EPIC FAIL on the part of the FSB to keep her blasted mouth shut during the meeting. She asked no less than four questions and had to make “fun” little comments the rest of the time. I also had the misfortune of her sitting behind me.
Okay, sports! Yeah, it’s hard to talk about this without having a bit of the creeping rage curling the edges of the page with its white-hot heat.
- The Brett Favre Saga of 2009 threatens to continue: while Bretty-Brett- Brett says he’s retired and not interested in going to the ViQueens, there’s no official word, and I’ll believe it when I see it. Hell, I’ll probably not believe it then. The ‘Queens’ owner says they’re interested in Favre, and I do believe that. We’ll hear more of this after OTAs and mini-camps are wrapping up – that’s what Brett doesn’t want to have to do.
- At least Bobby Jenks is honest. He might have learned that from his manager. I don’t know how I feel about “message” pitches. One of your guys is recovering from a blast to the hands, you may want a little retaliation. But this just breeds additional problems. However, if I were on the mound and had the kind of control that Jenks does, I’d be a lot more willing to brush a few back just to make sure everyone knew what’s what.
- I read somewhere that baseball “is a marathon, not a sprint”, but it’s hard to climb out of the cellar when you dig it that deep, guys. It’s early, I know.
- The Red Wings have a lead on the series with the Ducks, standing 3-2. The 6th game is tonight in sunny CA. I’m hoping that the lack of depth on the Ducks’ part is wearing them nice and thin. It looks like the winner of this series will go on to play hottie Patrick Sharp and the Chicago Blackhawks. Rafalski may play — Draper will not.
- I love juicy gossip as much as the next person, but what is it about Michael Phelps that the British tabs want to cause a self-destruct? Actually, it doesn’t come as much surprise that an athlete such as he can go a few rounds in the sack…plus, he’s not hot in the face, but, as the DH says: Put a bag on his head.
- He may be a butterface, but who can deny that body? (Photo: Freep.com)
I should probably do some real work today. But, why not make it a bonus type of day and add another hottie to check out? Um, okay!

Let’s explore the mysteries of our current world, shall we?
Why is it:
- that people have posted office hours but don’t come into work until after that posted time has come and gone?
- that people can’t figure out that you have to reach highway speeds when merging onto the interstate? We are going to killed, people!
- that I can’t help but laugh at the RFAC when she walks around with her stupid hat on because she “has a migraine”. I don’t know about y’all, but when I get a migraine, there’s very little way I’m functioning normally, and with as Gawd-awful terrible hers (supposedly) are, she shouldn’t be able to freaking move, let alone work in a brightly-lit and somewhat noisy office situation in front of a bright LCD computer monitor.
- that everyone gives a shit about this book written about Alex Rodriguez? Both the writer of the book and the subject of the book are big fat liars and neither deserve a minute more of our time than they’ve already Hoovered up.
- that the Chicago White Sox seem to have no offense other than home runs?
- that the Red Wings are now behind in the series?
- that Joe Mauer has his own theme song? And why is it that this isn’t his first? I love Joe, really, I do, but isn’t this a little, um, egotistical? “…they’re messin’ with the chosen one…”? F’real?
- that Brett Favre thought anyone would buy his “I’m retired” schpeel again. While I won’t give up my autographed football, I fell off that bandwagon after last year’s fiasco.
- (sorry, another one about Brett Favre)that Brett Favre seems to think that he’ll get to enact some sort of revenge on Green Bay? This talk about his talks with the ViQueens means little. Sure, maybe he’ll sign with them and maybe he’ll come to the Frozen Tundra to play the Packers. Maybe he’ll even win, but it would be a hollow victory, tasting completely like shit when the fans that once loved, supported, and cheered for the man boo him with the ferocity of a million scorned women. They say Hell hath no fury…he’d better watch the fuck out for Packers fans who feel betrayed.
I think I’m going to blow the rest of the afternoon looking at law schools.
Here’s your Hot Guy Pic for today:

I do not want to do work today. I know, I just had a day off, thanks to the foot of snow in Indy! Buuuuuuuuutt…that doesn’t meant that I want to be in this carpeted Cube’o'Doom, surrounded by folks that annoy me.
Lalalalalalalala…don’t want to do anything productive….
I sort of have to do stuff. I have an 11:00 meeting with the boss to discuss my projects. No big deal – I’m rocking the proverbial casbah. Until then…I’ll use more ellipses and talk some sports.
Keeping A”Brett” of the News: First, and in a mixture of wretched amusement and gut-wrenching sadness, this news. (Thanks to CheeseheadTV.) I hope Brett doesn’t go to the ViQueens. I really do. It would be a sad, sad day to see that man in purple and gold. In fact, I just threw up a little in my mouth about it. Seriously? Would he do this to try and get back at the Pack for not wanting to deal with his crap anymore? If so, he’s a worse diva than I previously thought. I was on his side when he said he retired. I believed those tears (damn it!). I was on his side when he decided he wanted to come back – it’s what he does, that football thing – and I couldn’t deny that watching him play was still fun. When he became a giant douche bag and pulled all of his shit, eventually ending up with a shitty season with the Yets, I defected from his side. Do not misunderstand me – I own and treasure an autographed football from Brett. I was giddy as a kid when I visited Hattiesburg, MS – dangerously close to his stomping grounds. But this crap needs to stop already.
Rubbing the First Fan in the Faces of the Cubs: Big thanks to a ChiSox fan here at work. He sent me the link to this. Yeah, the money will go to charity and it’s not yet approved by the Obama camp, but what a fun idea. Sox fans (Obama) go to the White House, Cubs fans (Blagojevich) go to the big house.
Stillers, Once Known for their Steel Curtain D-Line, Now Have an “O”-Line: In more “Sportsbama” news, the new Prez is rooting for the Stillers. Sadly, he (barf, barf) says they’re right behind Da Bears in his pea-pickin’ wittle heart. Hwlech! We are not in accord on this, Mr. President. While I’d be fine with the Steelers winning, I’d rather see the Cards take it. Why not?
Hey, Is That Your Butler? The Bulldogs are currently ranked #13 in men’s college basketball. Still the underDAWGS, they get no love from the “user rankings” on Yahoo!Sports. I think that may be because all the “users” of Yahoo!Sports are too caught up in the big name schools to notice the 18-1, mostly underclassman, scrappy little team from Indianapolis. Sorry that the supposed big DAWGS (read: Georgetown) are sucking it up and folks fail to recognize this. Go Butler!!
UM, Not So Much: I support Michigan football without fail, Wolverine Hockey some less, but UM Basketball is leaving me blue. I suppose it has since the end of the Fab Five (don’t even talk to me about Webber’s disastrous timeout). I know, it’s rebuilding and it’s tough for a team that didn’t participate for a few based on some…uh…infractions. We just need a little consistency now, and perhaps that will come with time. I just happen to not be patient with this part of sports.
That was a great break. Maybe I’ll come back later to post something else. Procrastination, you know, isn’t something that just comes naturally. You have to work on it and perfect those time-wasting skills!

I feel so much better today. I think I needed a little stress relief, and after taking out some frustration on the punching bag last night, I think I’m better. Too bad my right hand hurts – I guess I need help wrapping it next time.
Anyway, things are still chaotic at work, but I’m a little island unto myself in the midst. My work isn’t being screwed with yet, and until it does, I’ll just Modest Mouse it and “Float On”.
The Indianapolis Indians won last night, partially due to a grand slam by C Michel Hernandez in the second inning. The bases were loaded and a thunderstorm rolled in, delaying the game for about two hours. After the rain delay, Michel comes up to the bases-loaded situation and belts the 1-1 pitch over the wall. Excellently done! Super Hottie Matt Kata did not play last night.
I am tired of the Brett Favre soap opera. He is doing all of this crap to himself and the fans. First and foremost, I’m a Green Bay Packers fan. I like Brett. He’s a great quarterback with immense love for the game (which is probably why he can’t stay out of it), but this diva shit has got to stop. Yahoo!Sports hottie sportswriter Michael Silver and I must be on the same wavelength, because this article about the whole deal is dead on with my thoughts. I hope Aaron Rodgers just plain rawks this season. Everyone should give him this chance.
Michigan football is at fall practice, and I’m ready for the Wolverine football action to start (for real, not just this fluff with committments, etc.). With the hiring of Rich Rodriguez, things are a-changin’ in Ann Arbor, and that may not be a bad thing. As stated on MGoBlog, you’d never see this with Lloyd Carr:
For today:
Good: Better mood for me, sunshine outside. Grand slams for the Indians.
Bad: I’m having trouble picking which 1B to put on my fantasy team. More on that later.
Ugly: Brett Favre fans that aren’t Green Bay fans. There’s a difference in those people.
Funny: In the cube-farm disassembly here at work, the moving contractors “accidentally” unplugged someone’s refrigerator…yesterday. Oops! Now it’s leaking all over the floor. I’m glad I don’t sit over there or was “allowed” to keep my lunchbox in it.

Have you ever wondered why you’re where you are, how the hell you got there, and what’s coming up next? Well, that has been me lately. I’ve been floating in this yeah-I’m-okay haze for a little over a month. The road ahead isn’t clear yet, what with potential job opportunites and a potential move. I’ve cried at the dumbest things, and I’ve been a concrete statue at things I normally would have felt something about. All horoscopes looked good for my future today, and while I don’t necessarily believe in that stuff, it is nice to have something to look forward to.
That said, we’ll move on to the fun stuff – yay, sports!
The indianpolis Indians came off of a two-game blanking, and by that, I mean “a two game blankity-blankin’ blanking”, to defeat the Toledo Mud Hens for two games this weekend. Super Hottie Matt Kata was rockin’ the bat this weekend, pushing his average back up to .245. It would be nice if this trend could continue, sweetheart. He won “Star of the Game” Saturday night, and it was pretty evident that I am not the only fan of this hottie. As he finished his interview, there were plenty girls in the background yelling “I love you, Matt!”. He didn’t even notice.
By the way, Matt, that haircut is nice. Thanks for that.
No word on Cutie Adam Boeve’s status…yet.
It is a sad day in baseball. I got back into town this morning from a long (not relaxing at all) weekend to see that two terrible things have happened. Skip Caray passed away in his sleep, and Josh “Pornstache” Wilson has been traded to the Red Sox organization. I never was a Braves fan, but I can appreciate all the blogs in WordPress that have people thanking Caray for being the voice of their childhood. RIP. Losing Pornstache is killah – he was hitting well and his utility efforts on the infield will be missed. It does, however, leave Super Hottie Matt Kata as the Indians’ sole utility player in all respects. The last few games he’s played, it’s been nice to see a base number for his position (I don’t care what he says, I think he likes it better than outfield).
Brett Favre has been reinstated and will supposedly be on the Pack’s roster. I think I’m not holding my breath for that outcome. I am ready for football. Preseason has started, and it’s about time…let’s get some hotties in pads.
There’s less than 50 days to hockey training camp, so that is well on its way. I’m not a big hockey buff, but I’m ready to learn it. I have always enjoyed watching, mostly because it’s like football on ice, but I think I’m ready to be actively interested in the Red Wings. Can they do it one more time? Can they hold off the youngsters??
For the weekend and today:
Good: Super Hottie Matt Kata. Football starts.
Bad: Brett Favre’s diva behavior. Six kids, all under the age of five, in one house for an entire weekend.
Ugly: Ari Fleischer is working for the Pack? Do we need a spin artist? Really? One friend’s wife’s control and identity issues. That’s really ugly.
Funny: The things you find out from coworkers…wow.

And, man, I am not joking. Maybe it’s being tired that has this effect, but I can feel the fuse getting shorter and shorter today. My mood matches the weather.
I’ve already had to plug into the MP3 player this morning so I don’t have to hear the freaking whispered conversations going on around me. I have to tell y’all – we work in a cube farm. Whispered or not, I can still hear you! No, the conversations are not about me (why would they be?), but if it’s that “confidential” – GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
A friend just had dual knee surgery. A mutual friend emails me and asks how our friend is doing. What I want to respond is: “Can you fucking pick up a phone and call her your damn self?” Yeah, I know how she’s doing – it’s because I wasn’t an asshole, and I called her! What the hell? Is it just me? Really?
Anyway, let’s talk about something else. Sports!
The Indiananapolis Indians lost to the Mud Hens last night. Reading a couple different articles/blogs on the game, it struck me that sports players have some great soap-opera names. For example, the Toledo player that hit two homers last night is named Kody Kirkland. There’s another player on the Toledo team whose first name is Clete. Is that really pronounced “cleat”? Bwahahaha! Nothing like hoping for a sports star out of your newborn son.
Hottie Matt Kata (mmm…yummy) played third base last night, and had one RBI on a sacrifice fly. He does what he has to, I suppose. Interestingly enough, the “utility” player got some props from Manager Trent Jewett in his blog. After Craig Wilson got traded to the Seattle organization (where he was last seen doing quite well for Tacoma), Hottie Matt Kata might be the last true utility player on the Indians. I’ve never seen him catch, but I’m sure he could. He was a pitcher at some point, I’ve read, and I’ve seen him cover all the other positions. On the field. There are other positions…and they could be on the field…mmm.

What could make me smile this morning? This guy. Yum.
Oh, Brett, what are you doing? Favre faxed in his reinstatement paperwork, forcing the completion(?) of a really sore subject. I know he wants to play. I also know that he’s holding hostage the whole situation. I love Brett – his approach to football was awesome in this era of technically-correct QBs. He wasn’t perfect (interception record, anyone?), but he was great and he was fun to watch. This whole bit is killing me. I believed in you in March, Brett. That faith is broken. Dammit.
For today:
Good: Hot guys override the angry morning. Thank you, Hottie Matt Kata.
Bad: Reinstatement faxes and the fact that I’m still at work.
Ugly: This site was so funny, I have to put it here: http://www.mcalcio.com/top-20-ugliest-soccer-players/
Funny: A joke: On the way to work this morning I was distracted by the radio and rear-ended a car stopped at the lights. Anyway the fella who was driving got out…
He was a dwarf, and barely 3 feet high ……….
He said “I’m not happy”……..
I said “Well which one are you then?”
