And that’s about it for me.
No, really, I quite like St. Patrick’s Day. It’s about merriment and the color green…and everyone’s Irish for the day. I’m not descended from Eire, but close. Dad’s side is Norse and Scottish. Mom’s side is predominantly Scottish with some American Indian thrown in for some flava. I’m sure there was an Irish lass or lad on a family tree branch here and there, but not a lot. The DH is a whole lot Irish (Northern, to be exact), and he’s a big fan of the heritage.
So, anyway, the Mayor of Indianapolis dyed the Canal green this morning. I can see the neon ugliness from the Cube’O'Doom. There’s a duck swimming around – I wonder if the dye temporarily stains the feathers? Probably not. They use an earth-friendly dye that’s usually used to trace drain lines. But they use a whole freaking lot more than they need to – the Canal will be green for a damned month now.

Thanks to IndySportsFoundation.com for the photo.
Anyways, enjoy your St. Patrick’s Day – I’ll be having my Baileys this evening to toast the event.

We always host a New Year’s party. It’s a low-key affair, but we require that it’s kid-free. That means no kids. Some people don’t like that, and this year we’re making a tiny exception in the form of a two-month old, but that’s only because she’s not mobile and will sleep the whole time.
I sent invitations around at work, but I am *very* selective in who I’ve invited. I didn’t invite the PDAC, and not the RFAC, and most definitely not the SLOG and the Stupid Idiot Guy. Hopefully, the one person that is close to the PDAC won’t open his mouth about his invitation. I like him way more when she’s not around him…or is it when he’s not around her? Whatever – he becomes her bitch when she’s around, and I don’t think he’s getting ass for all of his troubles. This means he’s stupid, enjoys being a doormat, or both.
I’m hoping for a good crowd – we don’t get a lot of people, but a few regulars enjoy our parties – it’s more fun when there’s a group. We always have the food and drinks, of course, but we’ve got the Atari and two tables worth of cards/games for people to enjoy.
What’s nice is that the house is still clean from Christmas (mostly), so only a light cleaning will have to be done, and the DH is at home this week, so guess what he gets to do? That’s right! At least he gets lucky for all of his work…

officially begins! Today, I have to get a cardio workout in, get my nails done, babysit, pack for our Detroit trip, and get the heck out of Dodge. I know that everyone has plans and things to do all the time, but don’t you feel like the holidays just make it that much more busy? Oh well, it always makes for interesting times.
The DH and I are going to the Thanksgiving Day game between the Lions and the Titans. The Titans lost to the Yets – ugh, I know – but the Lions have yet to win. Perhaps this will be the game that changes it? I laughed too. But, I guess I shouldn’t laugh too loud…you never know how the games are going to turn out, especially this season!
Heading into Turkey Day:
Good: I love that football season is in full-swing. We’ll see two games in two weeks! Mmmm…Grandma’s stuffing…
Bad: Staying with the in-laws. How exactly am I supposed to be good, work out, and eat right throughout this holiday season??
Ugly: Talent such as that held by Calvin Johnson is wasted on a team such as the Detroit Lions. Cold weather forces the smokers closer to the buildings/doors, so EVERYONE has to suffer the ill effects of their habit.
Funny: This past weekend, I went to a concert where there was an inexplicable concentration of Bears fans in jerseys. On the way out of the concert, I heard a couple of them talking about their great game that day. I chuckled to myself as I saw the Green Bay sticker on my car window, but wondered what game they were talking about. It must have been so unimportant that it didn’t stick in my brain like many games do. I checked when I got home…da Bears had been victorious over the St. Lou-ser Rams. Whoop-de-freaking-do!
