I know it’s been a really long time since I posted. In fact, I had an “update” kind of post all thought out about three weeks ago, and it never happened. I’m not sure if they’re really watching this kind of thing here at work, but, if so, I’m trying to be sneaky.
A little insolence never hurt anyone, did it?
However, I am a little busy here in the Cube’O'Doom, so I think I’ll give you the Twitter version of an update. All items will be 140 characters or less. Be prepared for some randomosity.
- The White Sox sucked it up. I can hardly take the annoyance and threaten, once again, to give up on them and cheer for someone else.
- Damn it, I want the Angels to win.
- I renewed my affair with the Saints, Packers, and Tom Brady. Only Saints have returned the love. Tom tried to make it up to me last game.
- Went to St. Maarten for a week’s vacation. Loved, loved, loved it!
- Went to Kansas City to see the Cowgirls almost get ridden roughshod by the Chiefs. Too bad the red team lost.
- Did I mention it was colder than phuck in KC for the game? Still I love outdoor football.
- Is scalping tickets legal in St. Louis? I want to go see the Rams try and win one in November and don’t want to go to jail or pay much.
- Increasingly annoyed with friend SR: she can’t commit to doing things with us, but she’ll commit to 1000 for people she regularly bashes.
- Got an awesome visit from friend SD and had a great girls’ weekend.
- Also in love with new Camaro. Too bad I won’t be able to afford one.
- Only intermittently busy at work, but spent a lot of vacation time with no consequence (no late work).
- Confirmed S&M tendencies by going back to personal trainers after vacation. Working out hurts and I love it!
- Adopted another soldier through Soldier’s Angels. Got SD to adopt one! You should do it too, ‘cuz all the cool kids are doing it.
That’s enough for now. Here’s the Hot Guy for ya – you might have seen this one coming:

There will be no sweeping, damn it. I’ll still take 3 of 4 from the Spankees ANY TIME. Who said Melky could hit for the cycle in our park anyway? Hmph.
Additional good news is an additional pitcher who has some skills: ladies & germs, put your hands together for Mr. Jake Peavy! Yeah, you know, the one who used his no-trade clause in May to stay in SD because, well, they weren’t sucking and the ChiSox kinda were? Yeah, that’s the guy. He’s still on the DL with an ankle tendon injury, but we’ll rehab him up right. The Sox lost Clayton Richard in the trade (and I love him almost solely because he’s a Michigan man), so that sucks, but I knew no one would take Colon. Hell, we don’t even really want him, but we still have him hanging around somewhere. Waivers? Yes! Let’s put him out unconditionally on waivers! We’re already scrambling to cover starts with Richard gone and Peavy on the DL, why not?
White Sox goodness combined with Twins and Tigers suckitude pulled us within 1.5 games of the division lead, and 1.5 games ahead of the Twinkies. It also keeps us above the .500 mark, although just barely. The upcoming series at home against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will be an interesting one, since the Angels have twice owned the Twins in series recently. It would be nice to keep above .500, wouldn’t it?
So, in other baseball goodness, Super Hottie Matt Kata is still playing big leaguer with the Astros. I’m hoping he hangs in there until the roster expansion and then gets to play a bit into the post-season. He does play for the Astros, so I’m not holding my breath on that post-season bit. But, there’s always hope, right?
I am pretty sure that the month of July just didn’t happen because it’s already August. NFL preseason games start in 10 days. Speaking of that, I really need to get cracking on those KC/Dallas game tickets. Otherwise, that will be an uneventful anniversary weekend in Kansas City for us…and kind of a wasted trip.
As always, work calls. In anticipation of the upcoming wonder that is football season, here’s your Hot Guy Pic:

I shouldn’t feel this way. It’s a bright sunny day outside and it’s Thursday. It’s Thursday before a long weekend where I don’t really have any major plans. I should feel great. Instead, I feel moody and apathetic. Okay, they both happen all the time, but it’s worse today. Why? I had a shitty afternoon at work yesterday.
I try very hard to do my job to the absolute best that I can do. When I’m spouting the nearly-legalese and/or putting it down on paper, I try and make it right. It has my name on it after all. I refuse to be stupid on purpose. When that approach is thwarted, it makes me cranky. I try to argue my point – that’s not the right way to do it, I say – but it makes little difference. So, today, I have the “why do I even fucking bother?” attitude. Hopefully I can pick it up today and get back to feeling like I should (my horoscope actually said I should be open to counseling. I don’t think it’s THAT bad.).
Anyway, about those sports I love:
- The White Sox have won two in a row over Super Hottie Joe Mauer and the Twinkies. That’s quite nice. Also nice: The Q looks to be back in the lineup on Friday.
- Pittsburgh Steeler James Harrison has ruffled some feathers with his comments, and then switchback comments, to the annual invitation of the Super Bowl winners to the White House. So, a pro athlete made some dumb comment, and then made some other dumb comments to try and cover up the original dumb comment. Move along; nothing new to see here, folks.
- I find it odd that the NHL Playoffs are going on, but neither MSN nor Yahoo! Sports have anything about hockey on the fronts of those sections. The Hurricanes of Carolina need to step it up in Game 2 tonight to stay relevant in the series against PGH. It can be done.
- It makes me laugh to think of Danica going to NASCAR…
I should go back to that work thing I’m supposed to be doing. Maybe a nice, hot picture to make that easier?

They finally came today and rearranged the Cube’o'Doom. It’s not exactly as I need it yet, but I’ll have to jack around with the computer and such to get it all comfy-like. Seriously, I spend way more time here than I do on my own couch, so it better work for me. At least within reason. I don’t think they’d let me throw out all the desk furniture and put soft and cushy stuff in here. Everyone would be hanging out in the Cube’o'Doom then.
It was a rough weekend. I was in a lot of pain on Saturday so I went to an immediate care center. I do not know how these “doctors” get jobs. I’m not kidding. This guy had me thinking that I had lung cancer when it’s just a major muscle strain. Do not come to me and say “there’s something abnormal on your x-rays” when it’s a common affliction that EVERYONE IN THE STATE OF INDIANA HAS!! Asshole.
Sports are going along pretty well.
- Butler won the Horizon League, so we’re going to dance a little. I don’t want to get my hopes up, but these boys can play. I just hope they aren’t intimidated by the likes of the boys of the Big East or the ACC.
- Sean “Sloppy Seconds” Avery has relocated to the Rangers. I guess they need some help and they’re willing to take on his mouth for the on-ice presence.
- Hottie Tom Brady married Gisele. Well, I am pretty sure he wasn’t going to marry me, so I guess he didn’t do too badly for himself. I *am* interested in seeing those wedding photos though…
- Kurt Warner isn’t being quite the role model for good Christian men everywhere, what with his shopping himself around and looking for the biggest dollar. Yes, I know he “led” a team to the Super Bowl. Whatevs. I think he’s not nearly as talented as the sportswriters who are so enamored with him (Mike Silver) do, and, like Over-Pay’d-ton Manning, his receivers made him what he is right now. How’s he going to do with no Fitz to haul in those crazy ugly passes?
- Speaking of the Colts, I heard that they kept Jeff Saturday. Haven’t heard anything else yet.
- TJ Houshmandzadeh (Gawd, I love that name) signed with the Seahawks and Albert Haynesworth signed with the Redskins. Big deals, those two.
- In sad news, they’re still look for and losing hope for the three remaining men off the shore of Florida. The remaining men are Oakland Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper, free-agent defensive lineman Corey Smith, and former South Florida player William Bleakley. Hope for the best and good thoughts out to those families.

The window seat rocks. It rocks on a plane (especially if you’re behind the wing and get to watch the flaps, etc., work), and it rocks at work. Well, at least it does on the 10th floor. I think, maybe, on the 1st floor, it might be annoying as all the people walk by. But then, I’d have more fun stuff to comment (read: snark) on!
Anyway, the snow is falling fast and furious, but from here, it looks like it’s drifting down gently. If the wind lets up a little, the flakes nearest the building dance along the glass before being pulled away by the resurgence of the breeze. We’re supposed to get several more inches through the overnight.
What is it that we need when it’s cold and snowy? That’s right – hotties! Check out what could warm you right up after the jump…

that I don’t have superpowers. It’s the same reason that it was found good and prudent to equip me with some sort of restraint…otherwise, I’d go fucking ballistic on the people around here.
Look, I don’t think it’s too much to ask for people to not yell across the room to each other to have a drawn out conversation. For the love of a divine being, we work in a cube farm. Get off your fucking ass and walk over to the other cube to talk. It’s a maximum of thirty steps away, FFS.
We don’t have dividers to separate the functional areas, so how a different group operates directly affects the rest of us. So, when they all get together to have a racous Secret Santa exchange, we all have to hear it. Since it’s a holiday thing, I let that go yesterday. Yes, I could hear the entire thing OVER my headphones, they were so loud, but it’s the holidays. A few deep breaths and a walk took care of that anger.
Not so much today. I like to come in relatively early – it used to be quiet before 9am – and get some stuff done. Now, in the Post-Cubicle Relocation Era, that brilliant silence is gone. Between 7:45 and 9am, I am often forced into my headphones, just because I don’t want to listen to the stupid conversations of Stupid Idiot Guy (yes, him) and Super Loud and Opinionated Girl (SLOG).
Calling this girl SLOG just made me laugh out loud. I’m going to have remember that one.
This morning it was reaching the boiling point for me. I had already woken up late, been a few minutes late to work because of it (not that my boss minds or even knows), and am in a generally bad mood. They start in as soon as they get here – talking loudly about their colds and throwing medicine over the cube walls at each other. “Try this – it really dries you up!” Then it was some computer application that didn’t work. “I can’t get into SLOG-App A, can you? No? Can you, Stupid Idiot Guy??” At this point I’m seriously considering standing on my own desk and pelting them with office supplies, screaming “SHUT THE FUCK UP!!”
That’s where the restraint comes in. If I could strike people with lightning or slice through them cleanly with adamantium claws that appear above my knuckles, that restraint would come in even more handy.
Although, the ability to teleport myself to a tropical island would really come in handy. I’d probably try to bring the hottie below with me at least once.

I have only a few minutes before I am dragged away to my “special” project. Oh, it’s special all right…Anyway, a quick amount of random craziness before I have to go:
Aaron Rodgers is my hero. I love him. And he’s even kinda cute in his ballcap. Not so much in a helmet. A-Rod led my Packers to a victory over the ViQueens last night in MNF. I am sad that I missed his Lambeau Leap – be assured that I will be finding that on YouTube tonight.
I also need to thank Atari Bigby for dashing the hopes of that purple and gold team…what a beautiful interception. It’s too bad that I missed the majority of the game. Stupid meetings anyway.
I am extremely pleased that the Colts lost. It hurts so for me to root for the Bears (because they still suck), but a girl’s gotta do, you know?
It sux for Hottie Tom Brady that his season is over. However, I can’t get over how some people are talking about this – it’s like he died, not tore an ACL. I think it will be okay folks. I’m hoping that Matt Cassell can step up and rock right along with the rest of the outstanding Patriots (sorta like Tom Brady did when Drew Bledsoe got hurt…hmm…).
Michigan won this weekend. Yes, it was over Miami of Ohio, but it’s still a win. We’ll take it. Hopefully our very young team gets into a good groove with a solid win over Notre Dame…well, we can hope.
Here we go:
Good: The Pack wins! The ChiSox are still in first!
Bad: Is there a particular reason that we couldn’t get some interns to do this special project? I’ve got some big fish to fry that are getting all stinky on my desk.
Ugly: I’m finding it hard to keep up with baseball now that football has started, and there’s no Hottie Matt Kata around. Sniff.
Funny: So I can’t go to YouTube from here (stupid firewall), but you should go and take a look at the mini-tantrum that Tavaris Jackson threw after he was intercepted at the end of last night’s game. He was pissed, and even better was the cut-over shot to Aaron Rodgers celebrating and going to get his helmet for one more round on the field!

Something riled me right up at the comment with the accusation above. I have already responded on the Ladies…page. I didn’t want to be accused of running and hiding my argument elsewhere. I just feel the need to expound upon it here.
So, yeah, I’m a University of Michigan fan. I have been since I was a little girl, regardless of the pressures to choose a local team to support. It really was the “IU or Purdue” option here – or so people felt. And that’s okay. I just don’t like either of their teams. Initially, I didn’t like IU because I didn’t like Bob Knight and couldn’t stand to support a school that allowed him to act the way he did, and they didn’t really have a football program worth a shit at the time. Now it’s more apathy, and that’s probably the best way to describe how I feel about the rest of the Big Ten, with the obvious exception of Ohio State. I just don’t care about or for the rest of the teams. In no way does this make me a bandwagon fan or, IMHO, a douche bag.
Even better: I did not attend the University of Michigan. I went to a small private college in Michigan that does not have athletic teams to support.
That said, I’ll continue on like I usually would.
It was a double-suck night in baseball for me: the Indians lost and so did the ChiSox. The Indians’ baseball game last night was something. Exactly what that something is, I’m still not sure. The Tribe allowed the Bats to put up SEVEN runs before we a)pulled the pitcher and/or b)responded with a score of our own. Yikes. Super Hottie Matt Kata only got to pinch hit once, and he struck out. Other things about the game: the black jerseys were on and they’re my favorite; Steve Pearce can hit homers, but he can’t jump; both Matt and Cutie Adam Boeve had stints as first-base coach which, from my seat, gave me a great view. I would like to thank those two for choosing/wearing pants that fit. Mm-hmm.
Football is taking over the sports pages, and I’m not complaining. I’m looking forward to the pro season, and nervously anticipating the college season. I have discovered two things:
1. Tom Brady is still smoking hot.
2. Trent Edwards is not too shabby either.

I don’t like the Bills, but I do like QBs. It’s a weakness, I admit it.
For this very minute:
Good: I still have three opportunities to see the Indians at home.
Bad: It’s eight months until my local Boys of Summer are back after this season ends. Sniff.
Ugly: There are friends you can count on, and then there are friends you can count on to let you down. Why are we still friends? I don’t know – for the same reason I still like the Indianapolis Indians and the Chicago White Sox after they lose, I guess – loyalty.
Funny: In a local warehouse type of store, I busted a good-looking dad checking out my goods while his lovely wife and child were looking at the stack of cakes available. Thanks for the giggle and the ego boost, honey.
